Preventing Burnout: The Power of Yoga, Nutrition, and Rest
It is all too easy to become overwhelmed with family responsibilities, work demands, and trying to get it all done. How do you feel about prioritising your health. Where are you on the to do list?

If you’re feeling exhausted and a bit “done” with it… by adding in a bit of yoga, good food, and more importantly giving yourself permission to rest can be soooo powerful in combating burnout and possibly getting your sparkle back!

Yoga: Nurturing Your Inner Self
Yoga offers a holistic approach to keep your body, mind and emotions in check. Creating a regular practice can reduce stress, increase flexibility and strength, and promote mindfulness - which means, you start to become aware of your own patterns and you’ll see more clearly where you are getting stuck.

Bottom line: Adding gentle yoga into your routine allows you to reconnect with yourself, gain clarity, and eventually prevent burnout.

Nutrition: Fueling Your Body for Success
We all know we should eat better, meaning a well-balanced diet. But did you know food can make you feel well and combating burnout? Add in as many colorful fruits and vegetables to your every day plate. Explore different lean proteins like chicken or fish, or even go plant based with beans, tempeh, and tofu. Change up bread to more whole grain and/or sourdough. And definitely get into fresh pressed healthy fats and oils like olive oil, pumpkin seed oil, and fish oils.

Bottom line: By nourishing your body with the right nutrients, you can support optimal energy levels, mental clarity, and emotional balance.

Rest: Embracing the Power of Downtime
I know, we shouldn’t look like we are doing nothing. Especially women. But rest is a vital component in preventing burnout. Giving yourself permission to rest and recharge is not a sign of weakness, but rather a proactive step towards recuperating energy and becoming resilient. Start by looking at sleep quality by aiming for 7-8 hours a night. Add in a relaxation technique, such as deep breathing or meditation, into your bedtime routine.

Bottom line: Take breaks throughout the day and schedule time for fun and joyful activities can help you to feel more balanced and full of energy.

5 Tips to Slow Burnout and Improve Your Health:

1. Prioritize self-care: Carve out time each day for activities that bring you joy, whether it's reading, listening to music or spending time with loved ones. Remember, taking care of your own needs is not selfish, but essential for overall well-being.

2. Practice mindfulness: Pause and take a few deep breaths, focusing on the present moment and feeling your feet connected to the floor. This simple practice can help reduce stress and bring a sense of calm amidst the chaos.

3. Move your body: Whether it's yoga, walking, dancing, or any form of exercise that appeals to you, staying active boosts your mood, and your energy levels.

4. Under schedule: Check your commitments and get rid of things that are causing you stress. Prioritize the things that align with your values and feel good in your heart. Let go of overwhelming obligations that drain your energy, even if you “should” do them.

5. Seek support: Asking for help is difficult for many of us. Practice asking for help even if you don’t really need it. Not only is it more fun to do things with others, you build connections and relationships with people as you do things together. If it’s something a bit more personal, like burnout, and you don’t know who to turn to, consider hiring a health coach. (hint… I’d be happy to help you!)
